Giving Back - by " Frank D. Porter "
What does giving back mean to you? Do you take something from someone and give it back? Do you give it back to someone who first gave it to you? Or do you give it back to only some people, and not to others.
For me, giving back is something like throwing a life preserver to someone whose ship is sinking. Some people have it in them, while most people don’t. I always rooted for the underdog in life wanting to see someone rise above their circumstances. You know, something like those Life Time movies you see on TV. I have had some of my own struggles in life and know what it like to feel hopeless but that’s not why I do it. I don’t know about anyone else but I am very blessed to be where I am presently. Quite simply I like to do things for people who are less fortunate than most because it makes me feel good. Quite often I tell my children, sit down, quite down, and slow down. There is a roof over your head and food on the table; they don’t know how good they got it. Over the years I have done a lot of different things for a lot of different people.
In 2009 I wanted to make a difference in someone or something so I decided to take  my first mission trip to Mexico to help in a project the ( James R Ganley School)  that had been established but not flourishing. This school not only provides educational needs that otherwise are practically non-existent but also physical and spiritual needs to the whole community as well. My involvement includes fundraising as well as trips to the school for rebuilding, new construction and various duties as assigned to me.

Some basic information about Touch The World - the organization that helps me to grow while helping others; follows below:

In 1998 Touch the World began sending short term mission trips to Mexico in an effort to reach out to the poorest in the city of Juarez. Through the years we have sent many teams and in 2004 we brought on full time missionaries Gilberto and Maria Garcia.

As we worked with the Mexican people, we saw some significant needs like food, clothing and housing. Almost Perfect Fencing - Bergen CountyThe children often live in one room homes made from wood pallets and cardboard. Most homes have dirt floors and very few have any kind of plumbing. Electricity is brought in from local telephone poles where wires are connected in haphazard ways to bring power to the homes. It is not uncommon to hear of children being electrocuted while walking along a road after it rains since many of the wires run along the ground and are not protected.
