A few years ago while researching for some information on the internet I stumbled across the website of a designer from Colonial Park, Pennsylvania. I took note of his site and works and kept looking for more information relative to what I was researching. I found I kept returning to his site and reading more and becoming more convinced that I had found the source of the information I was looking for.

I made a phone call and a few weeks later found myself sitting in the parking lot of Staples across the street from him in Hershey, Pa. He had a small place where he lived with son, Shaun, and Kathleen Reagan (shaun's mother) who was a lovely lady. Although they were struggling and had numerous problems, I noticed that his gardens were immaculate and just beautiful beyond a doubt. He said that he found solace, comfort and inspiration within his garden beds and that his favorite quote was

"if you seek God, look in a garden. You can dig for Him there."

 

Needless to say we established a working relationship within the ensuing months and over the past few years have maintained contact and occasionally he did some work and/or projects for my companies with regards to the internet technology services I needed. We maintained contact, became very good friends and often talked at length.

Sadly, I never got to see Kathleen again, as she passed from cancer two years ago, dying in her 11 year old son's arms. The boy never missed a beat. He picked himself back up, continued to excel in all his schooling, became a page at one time in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for Representative Marsico and overall became an outstanding young man.

Ron, in the meantime, continued to garden and transformed his entire yard (front and back) into an oasis of solitude and beauty. There is a remarkable memorial garden to Kathleen with many of her favorite garden decor in place with a waterfall and just so many of her personal touches. It is a place for Shaun to be close to his mother in spirit and thought. He often does paintings there with his mother's art brushes that she held in her own hands when she painted.

Ron since has also taken over the IT department for Almost Perfect and it's affiliate companies and handles my web work and such.

 

He always wanted to do a blog about gardening, what with his years of landscape design experience and knowledge thereof and often spoke with me about the two of us putting all our resources and knowledge together to share with all, our ideas, knowledge and projects.

 

Well, that makes "Perfect Sense" to me, so we are launching it in 2011.
